"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that you may have life, and have it abundantly. " —John 10:10
What is the cost of participating in ASB?
Domestic
The cost per participant is $85 for one of the trips within the United States. This amount helps cover site fees, transportation costs, and general cost for all of the domestic ASB trips. Some out of pocket expenses will also be incurred during the week to cover some of the food and any personal expenses you may have. Each group will help collect money through a bucket drive to cover some of the additional expenses.
International
The cost per participant is $900. This amount helps cover site fees, airfare costs, and general cost for the Puebla, Mexico trip. Again, some out of pocket expenses will also be incurred during the week to cover some of the food and any personal expenses you may have. This group will help collect money through a bucket drive at one of the Spanish masses during the winter semester to cover further expenses.
What is the difference between going with St. Mary Student Parish and going with the University?
We are a special project of the University of Michigan Project Serve ASB Program. We bring an additional spiritual aspect to our meetings and to the trip itself. We do, however, gain some of the resources that the university has to offer us.
What is the alcohol policy?
Alcohol and drug use and possession on any UM-ASB trip is strictly forbidden due to university policy, liability and legal issues, respect for the members of your group and - most importantly - the individuals and organizations with whom we are working during spring break. If you are found with alcohol or drugs, you will immediately be asked to leave your group and travel home at your own expense.
